On Salads!

Going on a health streak and diet, counting the calories in my each bite! Going off processed food, comfort food, and chocolates , etc., sigh! A big commitment is needed. I am going a step forward and staying off carbs! So Proteins, Fruits and Salads all the way for me now! Anyway I love having salads and looking for new dressings to go with the veggies.

I heard about this different kind of salad, and decided to try it. And guess what it turned out to be one of the best salads I have had ever! It is entitled 'Watermelon Feta Rocket Salad!’ A peppery and lemony dressing with sweet watermelon and a dash of salty feta with the rockets leaves (arugula) balancing all the flavours  It is like a blast of multiple flavours in your mouth and doesn't add much to your calories count. Here is the recipe for the lovely fresh salad.

Ingredients:
1 bowl of chopped watermelon
A bunch of rocket leaves (arugula)
Few seedless green olives
A few leaves of basil leaves
100 g of Feta Cheese

For the dressing-
1 tablespoon of Mustard sauce
2-teaspoon honey
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1-teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste

Process:
Step 1 - Remove the stems of the washed rocket leaves and add them to the salad-mixing bowl.

Step 2 - Halve the olives and add them to the rocket leaves.

Step 3 - Remove the seeds of the watermelon and add the chopped watermelon to the leaves-olives.

Step 4 - Tear up few basil leaves and add to the mixing bowl.

Step 5 - Add all the dressing ingredients starting with apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, honey, mustard, salt and pepper. Mix all the ingredients. (Adjust the quantity of the ingredients according to your taste. For e.g. if you want the sweet taste to be the hero, then add more honey)

Step 6 - At the last, add the feta cheese either cubes or just bits on top of the salad. And give it a slight toss and your salad is ready!

Remove in a bowl and garnish with some basil.
Chill the salad for it 10 minutes and then dig in!

Voila! This is an easy but simply amazing salad to have on a brunch party or a diner date! Hope all of you also like it as much as I did! Leave you're eating experience in the comments below.

What to wear today?

Many a times we all go through this one big question, what to wear? “I have nothing to wear” is a comment which mostly all girls have passed standing in front of their jam packed wardrobe! Most of the times it's our mood talking and not us! Your mood affects the clothing you choose to wear. When you are feeling sad or unmotivated, your clothing choices will tend to represent that mood.It mostly tends to happen on that day of the month or after you had a fight with someone close or sometimes it’s just a gloomy day! Admit it! We all have faced that, I have faced it a lot of times! And this sometimes causes our confidence or feel good factor to go low in our systems. As modern woman, we don't have much time to spare for dressing especially on such days where you are just staring at your clothes! So here is a bit of a solution I whipped up for me and I hope it will help you too!

As we are on our toes for all 7 days, I found seven ideas to make apparel decisions easy!

To start of, the first and the most noticed clothing a Shirt/ T- Shirt/ Top!

I always keep a witty or quirky quote t shirt which is super comfortable but with some zing in it!Most of the times it works! Its like a paradox to baking your cake and eating it too! You can be comfortable and yet make a statement! Or else one of my favourites is a boyfriend t shirt! Oversized with rolled up sleeves which makes them less of a hassle for you. They are very versatile as they go well with a pair of shorts or a skirt, or even leggings.

Zip up your a causal solid colour tee with a fancy jacket and let the cover do its magic!
A smart Jacket, which is made of cotton or some fabric in the same lines can do the trick for you in this humid city! Just be sure of the material as it gets too hot in Mumbai. I recommend a cotton or a china silk  etc.

Living in a country which has 70% sunny days, I keep a lot of glares in my wardrobe. But for a day like where I actually want to lay low I prefer a pair of Oversized Sunnies! These don't grab too much attention but gives you a more confident look!

Brighten your face and your look for the day with some bright lip colour. Every woman/girl should own that one lipstick which makes her look fab and goes with most of her outfits  For me the colour is the shade between orange and pink called “coral”.Each skin type has a colour, make sure you get yours soon!

‘If the shoe fits', an idiom used by many including 'Carrie Bradshaw' the girl who knows shoes from sex and the city. Great pair of Shoes is an important fit in a person’s appearance, which also can make or break one’s personality. A perfect shoe is something that should make a statement but also be gentle on the girl’s feet! On a day where nothing seems to happen your way, a good pair of loving shoes can make u feel as if you are walking on the clouds keeping all negatives aside.

In India, gold is considered as an auspicious metal and colour which is true to a certain point as it's a shade of yellow which is the colour of positive energy. So one a gloomy ‘grey’ day, a little yellow will be a positive point to your outfit! Add some Bling Jewellery to your outfit and see the glow reflect on your face.

The last trick or rather the best one is to take a personal day and get into your comfy, warm Pyjamas! And just relax! Have some chocolate and watch your favourite movies! Nothing can fix you like the pyjama+chocolate+bed+movie treatment! ;)

The Dutch Affair!

My first day today off from work! went for a morning 'Stroll"which was quite a lot of workout after very long. Later went to Phoenix Mills Lower Parel, for the Dutch Food Festival called 'Holland meets Mumbai' at Food Hall in Palladium. It was quite an interesting fair, the first of the kind i think, never been to an Dutch food festival before.

The Food Fest started today on 1st June 2015, and is on till 7th June 2015. This fest will introduce to some amazing delicacies the Orange land offers such as StroopWaffles - waffle made from thin layers of baked dough with a caramel-like syrup filling and world famous cheeses like Edam and Gouda. They have a demo counter filled with a variety of Dutch dishes for you to try. The event was launched by the Dutch Ambassador who also tried his hands at giving us some yummy dutch food. Do try the pancakes, waffles, white asparagus with hollandaise sauce along with mashed potatoes, its like heaven.

Making my day a little different

Mumbai, the city of dreams! Everyone is so busy in their jobs and routines. At times i feel that the city runs on a clock only for some people atleast.  6 o'clock get up, 8 o'clock leave for work so on and so forth. I don't blame anyone, living in this city is getting expensive. hussshhh!!!! Now even i have become one of these people so functions around clocks. Home to Work  to Home to Work from monday to friday and at times on a saturday also. There is nothing exciting or different about my day left. Same old Same old! But there always comes a break to such routines i hoped and prayed to god to help me make it happen. And it did! Yay!

A impromptu diner got scheduled(God my language has gotten so like formal now) with a friend. Being a Thursday night, we decided to go some quicks but yum food! Always when i passed pedder road, i saw this small place next to VAMA, called 'The Loco Chino'. Was curious to know about this place when my colleague mentioned that it was quite good. So we visited this beautiful and quirky place situated on the traficcky peddler road.

The LOCO CHINO! sounds quite different right. Well hell it is! It a fusion of Mexican and Chinese Cultures. The whole place including the menu, decor and ambience lives upto to this USP of theirs.
A small shop, with painted walls of Chinese characters dressed in Mexican clothes and colours. It gives a very nice and positive feeling. Now coming to the food, the food here is quite delicious. Not very spicy being a mexican place. Loco Chino has a small menu with chinese and mexican dishes which are quite reasonably priced! Service is quite good! Staff is very friendly. We eat quite a lot of food like Fiesta Nachos,Chicken Tacos, Veg Buritos and smoked spicy chicken Dim Sum which all were amazing! But the star of our meal was the dessert, Churros with chocolate sauce! YUMMY!
The best i have ever eaten! Must go for the bad boys! They were so good that the removed the stress of the entire day and made me feel wow again! :D I had a huge small on my face after eating those! wow i would love some more again!

Cost For two people: around 600

Location: Pedder Road, Next to VAMA

A long weekend on Holi! Doesn't it sound like a great idea for a trip! When nothing works up the best thing is to enjoy the Saturday with your bestie. A fun filled day with movies, lunch and shopping.
We went to PVR Pheonix and saw Dum lag ke haisha which is a very good movie! A must watch! Promising performances and great direction of photography!
While waiting for the movie to start, I began browsing through the kiosks on the second floor near Audi 5&6. There was a kiosk of 'Chumbak', a great brand who designs colourful and quirky products like bags, wallets, stationery, t shirts etc. Immediately was drawn to the colourful shop. There were so many many things to buy but i ended up buying to 2 notebooks and a wallet.

Another notebook is just a blank book for sketching and writing with graphic rickshaw designs on the cover giving it a very fun feel. Price Rs 95/-
And a pocket sized wallet, which has 4 card slots, one coin pouch, inside pocket, strap on press button closure. Price Rs 795/-
